Post 4 - Jase Peck ~ A Feeling of Urgency

Elder Jase Peck discusses some of the consequences that can happen if information isn’t passed on in time.

Every generation has its wisdom keepers. Even if the wisdom keepers are our family members, some of our family members will speak to us and say, wow, my generation did this or my generation did that. When the wisdom keepers pass on information, it always helps the next generation to move things forward. One of the problems that can happen is when a wisdom keeper passes on. Let's use an example of a family elder.

The family members share some of their experiences. You can get some of the basics of what life was. I remember when my grandmother or grandfather would speak about the Great Depression, and they would talk about how hard everything was. But the thing is, the parts that are missing are usually what's in the background of what they're trying to say, and that's why it’s important to try to understand everything else that's going on around them... because a lot of the things that are going around that particular person are going to be the things that are going to really be able to help you on your path.

OK, back to my grandparents, when they spoke about the Depression, they talked about having to cut back and things like that. But one of the things that they didn't realize was that they never talked about how their kids had to get very creative in what games they were trying to play, or the life that they led that was going on around that.

In a shamanic community. There's a lot of information that's out there with the elders. So not only do you want to get the information that they will provide, but you will benefit greatly by spending the extra time to sit with these people to find out some of the background things that they had to do. Here's an example about medicine keepers. These days when you go to find an answer to something, you can just look it up through a search engine. Back then they had to use the intelligence of the universe.

So, a medicine keeper would go out and they might pray for several days to get something that they could use to be able to help their family or their community. Those parts about praying for several days and using special songs to get themselves into a space to be able to connect to the universe, those are the pieces that are being lost. Some of the knowledge is still around and it's still being passed on, but a lot of the background knowledge needs to be passed on.

As for me? There was a time when I was in the middle of a ceremony with a group of people and we're praying over somebody. The person who had the songs that we needed had passed away about six months earlier. I had made a mistake in assuming that the people that were part of that circle had already gained that information from the person that passed and were very pro-active in gaining it. But what ended up happening was we got to the round that really prayed for this person's illness and suddenly those very people didn't have that song.

My point is, when you get a chance to work with somebody, not only ask them how they got their information, but ask them about the ways you can recreate gaining that same information.  You will then have access to some of the techniques and be able continue your growth. You will be able to pay it forward for 7 generations from now or maybe in the time of your grandchildren's grandchildren. They will still be able to have a way to connect into the Source and be able to gain some new knowledge that could help your future family and the rest of the communities.

So, in conclusion, one of the best things you can do is make yourself available to learn some of the ancient wisdom that is out there.

And also make time for yourself to be able to absorb it. Helping others is worth it.
